Holistic Natural Therapies

Our clients are treated with a variety of holistic natural therapies, most of which are generally referred to as ‘energy therapy’ or ‘energetic healing’. Unlike traditional medicine, which focuses more on the physical and mechanical aspects of the body, alternative or complementary medicine practices such as acupuncture, auricular therapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Neuro-Modulation Technique (NMT) focus more on energy aspects of the body’s function.

Treatments at Mother Nature’s are individually customized to each client’s particular health issues, condition and needs. With her broad training and experience, our therapist can integrate a combination of therapeutic techniques to achieve the best results for clients. In some cases, treatments may involve a single modality, such as a traditional acupuncture treatment. In other cases though, our therapist may recommend and utilize elements of several modalities to achieve optimum results.

Following is a brief overview of some of the therapeutic modalities employed at Mother Nature’s.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a key element of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and one of the principal therapeutic modalities offered at Mother Nature’s. It is also the one that's probably most familiar to prospective new clients. Our therapist is a registered acupuncturist, with over 20 years of clinical experience in both traditional acupuncture (i.e. with needles), and more contemporary methods of non-needle acupuncture. She has a Diploma in Acupuncture from The Canadian College of Acupuncture and Complementary Medicine, and is a member in good standing of The Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada. Most recently she undertook training in the specialized field of obstetrics acupuncture, which benefit maternity clients.

Traditional acupuncture sessions at our clinic are generally quite relaxing. The needles used are very thin, and set lightly in the skin with a gentle touch, so clients normally experience little if any sensation. Acupuncture has proven effective for a wide range of conditions including digestive issues, headache and pain management, inflammation, stress relief, hormone problems, immune function and cosmetics.

Auricular Therapy

Auricular Therapy (or Auriculotherapy) is a therapeutic technique that involves stimulation of acupuncture points on the outer ears through various means, including needles, electro-stimulus, acupressure and lasers. Modern auriculotherapy has evolved combining elements of both TCM and the European treatment approach developed by a French neurologist, Dr. Paul Rogier, based on extensive research and discoveries in the 1950s. The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) declared in 1990 that Auricular Therapy is probably the most developed and best documented, scientifically, of all the ‘micro systems’ of acupuncture, and is the most practical and widely used. It has proven effective at treating a wide range conditions and health issues.

Auricular treatments at our clinic involve stimulation of acupuncture points on the ears without the use of needles. Our therapist uses a small hand-held electro-stimulus device to treat the relevant points on clients’ ears. As each point is being stimulated, the client may feel a slight vibrating sensation on that spot. Afterwards, the therapist often applies tiny pressure balls (or ear seeds) to specific points, held in place with small bits of flesh-coloured tape. These can remain in place for up to a week or two to apply continuing acupressure as required.

The auricular device also has a bio-feedback function, which can aid in diagnosis by detecting energy imbalances when passed over acupuncture points on the ear.

NeuroModulation Technique (NMT)

NeuroModulation Technique (NMT) is one of the most potent and advanced forms of modern energy therapy. Developed more than a decade ago by Dr. Leslie Feinberg in Oregon, NMT focuses on identifying and correcting errors that occur in the body’s Autonomic Control System (ACS), the innate information processing system that controls every action in the body. NMT provides a means of accessing and reprogramming the ACS through a technique known as Muscle Response Testing (MRT), that is used by alternative health practitioners.

Our therapist is trained and certified at the Advanced Level as an NMT practitioner, and finds it one of the most powerful and effective tools for restoring the body’s natural healing and restorative functions.

Nambudripads Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET)

Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET) is a therapeutic modality developed in the 1980s by Dr. Devi Nambudripad, combining elements of acupuncture, kinesiology, chiropractic and nutrition to identify and reverse allergies. NAET treatments were responsible for much of the early success our clinic achieved in giving clients relief from allergies. Although NAET has now been largely replaced with more effective and dynamic treatment modalities in our clinical practice, elements of NAET are still integrated into some treatments. Our therapist is trained and certified at the Advanced Level as a NAET practitioner.

Other Therapies

Some treatments at our clinic may also include elements of other therapeutic modalities in which our therapist has trained, such as Cupping, Quantum Touch, Jaffe-Mellor Technique (JMT), Colour Energy therapy, and ayurvedic nutrition.

As the former proprieter of a health food store specializing in natural remedies, our therapist can also advise clients on the use and benefits of a broad range of homeopathic preparations, herbal remedies and other health supplements.

It’s not the purpose of this website to educate potential clients about the particular types of energetic therapies offered at our clinic. For those interested in learning more, there is already lots of information available about each, elsewhere on the internet. Ultimately though, the best way to become more knowledgeable about these therapies, and the potential benefits they offer, is to try them yourself.
